QGIS in the Hub - Setup
Set up instructions
- In the Hub menu, select the “QGIS on Linux Desktop” option and click “Start”
- In the desktop, double-click the “QGIS Desktop” icon to open QGIS. NOTE: You can ignore the “Open Sans” font error.
- Double click the “New empty project” in the window on the right
- In QGIS, go to “Plugins → Manage and install plugins”. Search for “STAC”; you should see the “STAC API Browser” plugin. Click the checkbox next to “STAC API Browser” to enable the plugin. Confirm that the plugin is installed and enabled by clicking on the “Plugins” menu; you should see “STAC API Browser Plugin”.
⚠️ WARNING
Please do not click the “Install Updates…” button.
…if you do accidentally update the plugin, you can reset your QGIS configs by deleting ~/.local/share/QGIS
and ~/.cache/QGIS
and restart QGIS.
Troubleshooting
You cannot load STAC layers from S3, with an error like “QGIS background task for loading assets was terminated”. You need to use the exact (custom) version of the STAC plugin included with the QGIS image; you cannot use the latest version. If you need to “reset” your QGIS to the image defaults, close QGIS, delete the ~/.cache/QGIS and ~/.local/share/QGIS directories, restart QGIS, and load (but do not update!) the STAC API Browser plugin from the plugin menu.
